“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” ― Plato
Music has the power to connect people unlike any other medium. It oozes passion and soul; sends chills down your spine and warms your heart; shatters you into pieces and keeps you whole. To all the musicians out there, charming us with your mellifluous notes and gorgeous tunes, thank you. You heal us all.
Some of my all time favourite musicians include Billy Joel, One Republic and Maroon 5! Let me know of your most treasured songs and musicians in the comments!
He was a musician, Pulling strings to make ends meet, Playing sombre tunes all night, In his mind, echoed notes of defeat. A drop out from medical school, An ignominious act indeed, Besmirched the family name, For he had different dreams. The starched white coats, Donned by his kith and kin, Made him yearn for colour, Unfetter his kaleidoscopic vision. On this dismal night, The sky overcast, stars shrouded, Sat he on the pavement, Mulling where he was headed Disowned by his own blood, Seeking vindication he went, Onerous was his journey, Swore he wouldn't repent. Poor as a church mouse, Hope hanging by a thread, Surrender he would Only when he lay among the dead. Then came a new day, Sun streaming through the window, He woke up, yet again, Knowing not what the day would bestow. The Gods from above smiled, Pleased at his perseverance, Picked up that fateful call, Blessed with a golden chance Opened for Radiohead, Here came his kairotic moment, His father in the front row, Embodying sheer disappointment. The blathering hushed, Centre stage, silver pool of light, Picked up his instrument, Soared among the stars that night. The assemblage of diversity, Enthralled by his mellifluous pipes, He saw only his father, Tears brimming his eyes.
