They say the pen is mightier than the sword, and it has held true for my life. Writing has helped me through many a tough situation. Feelings that I can never express have a way of manifesting themselves when I put pen to paper. It’s trying and exciting and I can’t imagine life without my writing. As my blog bio says, I’m not a person who professes her feelings and so writing has been a conduit for me to process and share emotion. It is something that brings me immense joy, it tests me, it pushes me to new limits, it scares me, it connects me both to myself and other people. It is a central piece to my puzzle and I hope to always keep it with me.
I would love if you comment what writing means to you!
I write, To reveal the sorrows, Trapped beneath my skin, As I yearn to distill, Turbid thoughts that lie within. I write, To pave the path to, Uncharted corners of my mind, As I peel away the layers, Always beguiled by what I find. I write, When I want to bawl, And bellow from atop the roof, To run from deafening silence, To meet eyes with the truth. I write, Because I don't know how else, To oust this gnawing pain I long to be understood, But my effort is oft in vain. I write, When I can't enounce, To give voice to words unsaid, Words that always lose the battle, Between the heart and the head I write, What I crave to feel, Exhilaration to be alive, Electricity coursing my veins, Fulfillment even if I die. When I write, My heart bleeds, As pen and paper bind, A beautiful symphony, The manifestation of my mind.
Writing is certainly my therapy.
While releasing myself of whatever I feel, know someone is not far away that can relate, or just listen.
A supportive network.
But as I write other stuff, a community feeling, chatting with others.

Shruti, loved this! Sometimes I use writing as a way of escape, other times purely to be creative and then… There are moments when the ‘confessional poetry’ just needs to be released into the world 🤣

Hey! This is beautiful. Exactly the thoughts that probably echo in every writer’s heart.
In addition to yours, I would just like to add that I write in an effort to try and lend a voice to all that is voiceless-nature for example, also the strays on the streets and the transgender begging at the traffic intersection. I write….well, I write whenever and whatever catches my fancy!
Do keep writing in between those drips that you might have to set up and the cadavers that might be waiting for you to delve into them. Look forward to reading more of your poetry.
Cheers. 🙂
