I sank to swim

I gasped for air as,
I sputtered out the salt,
Paralyzed by fear,
my insides somersault.

As we charted further,
the line that flirted with,
The brown and the blue,
was just a bygone myth.

And I finally jumped,
saline mixed with snot,
Sank deeper and deeper,
just me and my thoughts.

First screaming in silence,
then bathed in the serene,
Saw corals painted pastel,
peek between the green,

A rush of yellow and blue,
skirted by my fingers,
A shoal of blue tangs,
followed swift a stinger.

a steady gush of air
escaped from my lips,
a pin drop was louder,
my whole world eclipsed.

I had never known peace,
until that fateful day,
Alone; never less lonely,
with a spry school of cray

and now,
When I can’t breathe,
I turn to that sunny day,
Just me and my thoughts,
many miles from the bay.

That's all I ever needed,
to keep me ever afloat,
to picture the moment,
I jumped off the boat.

One of the most brilliant and challenging experiences of my life was when I went Deep Sea Diving.

In the beginning I had butterflies, but I came out feeling recharged and elated. The sea is calm, beautiful, expansive and so powerful. It is filled with mystery and wonder and is truly one of the most riveting entities in the world. This was one of the most memorable things I have ever done, and putting it on paper was not easy! So I did, what I love to do the most with difficult emotions and wrote a short poem

Would love to hear your views! Have an amazing day 🙂

I can completely relate to your poem, for I had done snorkeling about a year before. Surprisingly, I lasted the longest amongst my friends despite having fear of deep sea. Now, as I look back, I would want to divulge back into the sea to look at such beautiful hydrophilic wonders. 🙂 Thank you.

Isn’t it such a lovely experience that makes you feel so alive! Go for deep sea diving as well, it’s an elevated version of snorkeling!

Yes it is. Perhaps I’m overthinking, but sometimes I struck with a dilemma that some expanse of nature wants to remain undisturbed, and my presence is an intrusion. I took years to conquer my fear of heights through treks, next would be to conquer this fear. Thank you 🙂
